Coffees of India
There are many different types of coffees of India you might be interested in. If you are an avid coffee drinker than you might appreciate many of these flavors including Kents, S.795, Cauvery, and Sln.9. The Coffees of India are known for their mild blends of coffee. Coffee is considered an extraordinary and stimulating beverage. India grows all of its coffee plants in the shade and out of the sun. The coffees have a full-bodied and exotic taste with sheer amazing aroma. It is said that the coffee growers pour their life into their crops. India is known for producing and exporting a remarkable variety of the finest coffees in the world for over 150 years. The earliest variety of coffees in India is Kents. This is an Arabica blend selected by a planter named Kents in the 1920s. Kent coffee blend was less susceptible to rust and therefore favored over the years. It has an exceptional cup quality and is still grown in some areas of India. S.795 is also an Arabica blend that is the most popular blend of coffee throughout India. This selection was released in the 1940s. The beans are very bold and produce superior quality coffee. The leaves have excellent quality as being resistant to rust. It was originally developed using the Kents Arabica because of the high quality. However, today the S.795 is the best known coffee of India and the favorite among the planters. It is widely cultivated and provides a balanced cup of coffee with hints of mocha flavor. The Cauvery also known as Catimor, is a cross between two other type of coffees of India known as Caturra and Hybrido-de-Timo. Caturra comes from the bourbon variety. The high yielding and superior quality was inherited from Caturra. Cauvery is a common type of coffee around India but it is not as favored as the S.795 or the Kents blend. Sln.9 is also known as Selection 9. It's a derivative of coffee from the Ethiopian Arabica selection, the Tafarikela, and the Hybrido-de-Timor. Indian coffee Sln.9 is known to provide a quality cup of coffee as good as the Tafarikela. Selection 9 also won the Fine Cup Award for the best Arabica at the Flavor of India – Coffee Cupping Competition in 2002. This event is organized by the Coffee Board of India. Unfortunately most of the Indian Coffees can't be bought in USA, there are just a few like the Indian Mysore Coffee or Gevalia Indian Malabar that have made their way to North American retailers. India has been uniquely making their own blends of coffee for over 150 years. Every one of the beans grown in India is grown in the shade. The coffees of India are mild and full-bodied.
