Green Mountain Coffee Roasters
In the history of coffee makers, green mountain coffee or to give the correct title Green Mountain Coffee Roasters,is one of the great sucess stories. Bob Stiller bought the Green Mountain Coffee company in 1981, at that stage the green mountain coffee company was a small retail outlet roasting coffee beans on the premises. The company is now at the stage where it has a coffee roasting and production facility of 90,000 square feet and a staff of about 500.The company sells specialty coffee using Arabica coffee beans and offers over 100 different selections of coffee. These types of coffee include certified Fair Trade Coffee, certified Organic Coffee, various estate signature coffee blends. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters also sell flavored coffees under it's own Green Mountain Coffee Roasters brand along with the Newman's Own Organic Coffee brand. What's the connection between green mountain and K cup coffee? Let's start at the beginning. The K cup is a one cup coffee maker. The K cup coffee maker is a pre-sealed plastic container with a coffee filter inside. The K cup is filled with tightly packed ground coffee beans and these coffee beans are then sealed with a combination of a plastic and foil lid. This one cup coffee maker is then placed inside a Keurig coffee maker. Why a Keurig coffee maker? well Keurig developed the K cup, hence the K. Anyway, the K cup is placed inside the Keurig, the Keurig then pierces both the lid and the bottom of the K cup. Pressurised hot water is then forced through the openings and in to a coffee mug. These K cups come in many different varieties and are gaining popularity as office coffee makers. They seem to provoke a strong reaction either for or against. The main advantages of them seem to be that they are clean coffee makers and greatly reduce the usual problems of cleaning a coffee maker not to mention manual coffee makers. In 2006 Green Mountain Coffee Roasters bought Keurig Coffee makers and now the green mountain company offers a large selection of K cups for use with the Keurig coffee maker. Win, win. Now that you are armed with a little information on the green mountain company you'll have no problem explaining the connection between green mountain and K cup coffee.
