Health Benefits of Coffee

The Health Benefits of Coffee have long been a source of contention.

The benefits of coffee have been pushed by the coffee lovers while others have raised concerns about the health risks of coffee, particularly regarding coffee and heart health.

It now appears that the momentum is with those that support the idea that coffee is healthy. Most recent research appears to give support to the coffee lovers, many of whom would say that coffee is health food.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that it's healthy, but you definitely don't need to have a bad conscience when drinking one or two cups a day.

Coffee in moderation might actually be good for you :-)

  • Coffee Reduces Diabetes Risk: Research from the University of California at San Diego suggests that Coffee reduces diabetes risk among pre-diabetics by over 60%.
  • Coffee Prevents Parkinson: At least six independent studies have confirmed a link between coffee drinking and the prevention of Parkinson’s Disease.
  • Coffee improves performance and endurance during prolonged, exhaustive exercise.
  • Coffee increases alertness and improves performance on tests of mental function.
  • Coffee consumption has been proven to cut the risk of liver cirrhosis by 80%.

The health effects of coffee, at least the health benefits of coffee seem to be increasing year on year while the health risks of coffee appear to be diminishing.

However there is still an amount of concern over coffee and heart health even though research also supports the fact that there is no negative issue regarding coffee and heart health.

Studies released in 2005 found that coffee in moderation offered no heart risk but found that decaffeinated coffee might be harmful.

Coffee health studies overall seem to say that coffee is good for you and that there are many health benefits of coffee without going so far as to say that coffee is health food.

So, is coffee good for your health? Is coffee bad for your heart or good for your heart? What are the health effects of coffee?

If you have concerns about coffee and health it is always better to check with your medical team as the health effects of coffee could vary from one person to another.
