Keurig B70 Platinum coffee maker

The Keurig B70 Platinum Brewing system, as the name implies, is Keurig's top of the line home coffee brewer.

Like the other Keurig coffee makers, the B70 uses the same patented K-Cup system to churn out a hot cup of java within about thirty seconds. No grinding coffee beans, no fooling with filters, no mess to clean up afterward. No differences from the others there, right?

It's also sleekly designed, like the other models. In fact, this one makes more use of chrome highlights, and includes a blue backlight LCD display and water reservoir.

The primary difference is that this coffee maker takes all of the best qualities from the other Keurig brewers, and attempts to improve upon them.

More brew sizes

The B70 has the most brew sizes of all the Keurig coffee makers: four. This includes:
  • 5.25-oz. "robust" cup
  • 7.25-oz. regular cup
  • 9.25-oz. standard mug
  • 11.25-oz. travel mug size
While the extra brew sizes are great, one point to keep in mind is that no matter what size you select, the beverage is brewed from a single K-Cup.

In other words, at the largest size of 11.25 oz, your coffee might taste a tad weak, depending upon the blend you use. In such a case, it would be a good idea to use an Extra-Bold K-Cup, to ensure maximum flavor and richness.

Larger water reservoir

The Keurig B70 has a 60 oz. water reservoir, compared to 48 oz. on the other models. This means you'll get an extra cup or two before you'll need to refill the tank. If you drink a lot of coffee (or live in a household full of coffee drinkers) this could be a worthwhile upgrade.

Improved brewing system

The folks at Keurig promise that the B70 Platinum extracts even more flavor from the K-Cups than the other Keurig brewers do, guaranteeing especially rich and aromatic beverages.

Consumers who've used this coffee maker seem to agree that Keurig pulled it off: feedback is overwhelmingly positive.

The bottom line:

There aren't that many significant differences between the Keurig B70 and the Keurig B60 -- the main upgrades are the extra brew cup size and the larger water tank. Is that worth an extra $50? Only you can decide what's right for your lifestyle and budget, but you can't go wrong with any of the Keurig coffee makers.
